Friato was recognized as a finalist in the RFID Journal Awards 2025, the most prestigious global award dedicated to radio frequency identification projects. Among companies from various countries, we were the only Brazilian organization to achieve this distinction in the Healthcare/Food category, earning 2nd place with a project that merges technology, legal compliance, and employee care.
The innovation was born from a real challenge: ensuring that workers exposed to cold environments — with temperatures below 15°C — adhere to the limit of 1 hour and 40 minutes per shift, as mandated by Brazilian law. Previously, this control was done manually and required constant supervision.
With the use of RFID technology, we implemented an automated and reliable system. Portals were installed at the entrances and exits of cold areas, and each employee is now identified through tags integrated into their PPE. All information is recorded and automatically sent to the SmartHub system, which enables real-time monitoring and the generation of accurate reports.
The results are remarkable: over 98% accuracy in exposure time control, zero legal violations since implementation, and positive feedback from employees, who now benefit from a fairer, more transparent, and safer system.
The recognition at the RFID Journal Awards reinforces Friato’s commitment to innovation and social responsibility. With the success of the first phase, we are already working on expanding the use of the technology to other areas of the company, as well as developing real-time dashboards for operational leaders and conducting tests with artificial intelligence capable of predicting risk situations before they occur.
At Friato, we use technology to care for people. This project demonstrates that innovation and responsibility can go hand in hand, moving forward to make our operations increasingly efficient and human-centered.
