It is common to hear that chicken meat has hormones. Which are administered during their development to accelerate the growth of birds. This information, however, is a myth.
Feeding birds with feed enriched with hormonal substances or injecting them into birds is prohibited by a Normative Instruction of the Ministry of Agriculture, IN No. 17 of 2004, and also by international export standards.
In addition, several national studies have already shown that there are no technical and economic advantages in the use of hormones, making their use totally unsustainable for companies producing chicken meat.
Selected Chickens
The real reason for the chickens to have a faster growth is in the commercial selection, which is nothing more than the choice of animals with the most attractive characteristics, from the food point of view (large breast and less fat), for reproduction, along with genetic improvement, improvements in farm infrastructure and poultry nutrition.
Therefore, it is true to say that chicken meat is nutritious, low in calories and perfectly healthy for your daily diet. Enjoy!
